Godred, named after Godred MacHarold, a famed king of Sodor, is a pompous mountain engine who works on the Culdee Fell Railway.
Bio
Godred was built at the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works in Winterthur, Switzerland, in 1895. He was arrogant from the start, and believed that should he have any trouble his automatic brakes would save him. Of course, barely a month after the railway's opening he came off the rails and was sent to the shed in disgrace. Godred was in the shed for decades and some of his parts were used for repairs but, when all of the engines were on the mountain he was taken away to Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works to be fully repaired. The rebuilding of Godred took decades also and when he arrived back in 2000, 100 years after his accident, he was the railways 100th anniversary present.
